The agent for Bittensor

Read subnets, metagraphs and stake straight from the chain, run btcli with your approval on every signature, and keep what it learns as skills. On your own machine, with your own keys.

Or install from your terminal
curl -fsSL https://tryimagent.com/install.sh | bash

One agent,
three places to reach it

The same sessions, skills and settings, whichever one you open.

Terminal

A full interactive TUI, or one-shot prompts for scripts and CI. Everything the agent can do is reachable from the command line.

Editor

An extension for VS Code and Cursor: chat beside your code, edits reviewed as real diffs, every changed file listed to open or undo.

Desktop

A standalone app for work that is not in an editor — long-running jobs, scheduled tasks and conversations you keep open.

Reads the chain. Asks before it signs.

Ask which subnets pay the most, who holds the validator permits on subnet 5, or what a coldkey is staked in, and it answers from live chain data. When the work needs a transaction, it proposes the btcli command and waits for you, every time.

How the chain tools work
Chain toolsread-only
  • bittensor_subnetsEvery subnet: price, emission, registration cost.
  • bittensor_subnetOne subnet: identity, epoch timing, hyperparameters.
  • bittensor_metagraphEach neuron: stake, incentive, dividends, permit.
  • bittensor_accountAn address: balance, stake, registrations.

  • bittensor-minerPick a subnet, price the registration, keep a miner earning.
  • bittensor-validatorHold a validator permit and keep weights landing.
  • bittensor-subnet-ownerCreate, start and tune a subnet you own.
  • systematic-debuggingRoot cause first: understand the bug before fixing it.

It gets better at your work, not just at work

A skill is a procedure written down once the agent has worked something out: how you register a miner, how your validator is checked, how your project runs its tests. It ships with skills for miners, validators and subnet owners, reaches for them instead of rediscovering the steps, and revises them as it goes.

Your keys. Your files. Your hardware.

Subnaut runs on the computer in front of you, with a key from the provider you already use. File changes can arrive as diffs you approve one at a time, and a new device connects with a short code you confirm in the browser, never your password.

Up and running in three steps

From nothing installed to a first task done, in a few minutes.

  1. Install

One command installs the agent and everything it needs.

  2. Pick a model

Choose a hosted provider or a local model; the setup walks you through it.

  3. Ask it something

Start a session and ask about a subnet, check a miner, or hand it a task.

The short versions. The documentation has the long ones.

Read the full FAQ
Which models can it use?
Hosted models such as Claude, GPT, Gemini, Qwen and DeepSeek, open models served on Bittensor by Chutes (subnet 64), or a local model behind an OpenAI-compatible endpoint (Ollama, vLLM, llama.cpp). It needs at least 64K tokens of context. See the providers.
Does it need my wallet?
Not to read the chain: the Bittensor tools look up public data by address. Anything that signs runs through btcli on your machine and asks you every time, and it never creates keys or reads your wallet files. How that works.
Where do my keys and settings live?
On the machine you run it on: secrets in ~/.subnaut/.env, settings in ~/.subnaut/config.yaml.
Does it run natively on Windows?
Yes, through PowerShell, or inside WSL2 if you prefer. Installation.
How do I connect Telegram or Discord?
Once the terminal works, run subnaut gateway setup and pick the platform. Messaging.
Do I need an account?
Not to use the agent. An account signs your terminal, editor and desktop in as you, and each device connects with a short code you approve in the browser.
